  1. Low Water Pressure
Are you noticing low water pressure in your house? The two leading causes of low water pressure are clogged pipes or a leak. Check all the water sources in your house to find out if the low water pressure is one spot or your entire home.If it’s the entire house and you have well water, it may be the well pump. If you have city water, it might be a city issue. Did you find that only one spot has low pressure? This may be due to a clogged or leaky pipe.

  1. Low-Performing Garbage Disposal
Is your disposal slow or making loud sounds when in use? It may need a thorough cleaning, or it may be time to replace some parts. Take care of your garbage disposal by never putting more than it can handle in it. Avoid certain foods that your disposal can’t handle.Avoid these in your garbage disposal:
    • Fat
    • Grease
    • Banana peels
    • Pasta
    • Meat
    • Fruit pits

When in doubt, just throw it out in the garbage and not down your garbage disposal.

  1. Basement Flooding
Summer thunderstorms can cause flooding in your basement. Prepare for the rains by checking the performance of your primary and backup sump pump. Try throwing a bucket of water down into your sump pit to see if the pump activates.  If it doesn’t, find the issue and repair or replace your sump pump.Don’t wait for a major thunderstorm to find out your sump pump needs repair or replacement.

  1. Clogged Shower Drains
Keep your shower drain clear by using a drain cover to catch hair and other gunk that builds up in your drain. Notice your drain moving slow? Use the correct tools to remove the clog that’s building up. Never pour chemicals down the drain as this could cause damage to your pipes.

  1. Clogged Toilet
Summer fun means gatherings and parties with friends and family. Avoid clogged toilets by having a plunger handy and visible next to the toilet. When needed, use the plunger to create  suction and pull in your toilet to loosen and remove the clog.

  1. Washing Machine Care
With all the different summer activities, your washing machine works extra hard to keep everything clean from beach towels to jerseys. Don’t stuff too much laundry into one load and make sure the laundry is evenly distributed in the washer.Keep an eye on your washing machine for any signs of leaks. If you notice loud noises coming from your washer during use, stop and rebalance the load or investigate for any signs the appliance needs repair.
